Physician Health Program
Confidential support for physicians who are struggling with substance use and mental health concerns, as well as with other problematic behaviours. It also offers assistance and education to physician leaders, hospitals, and other worksites, as well as to anyone else who is concerned about a loved one or colleague.

Provides confidential support, resources and information for personal and work-life issues to physicians, their dependents and anyone living in their household.
Physician Health Program
Provides assistance to physicians, medical learners, and their families who may be struggling with various issues (mental health, substance use, relationships, etc.). It offers assessment and treatment, education, counselling and coaching, monitoring, and advocacy to help physicians engage in effective medical practice.
Professional Support Program
Provides confidential peer-to-peer support for members and their families who are dealing with personal or professional problems. Can also be accessed by Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association and Nova Scotia Dental Association members and their families as well as dental and veterinary students, and veterinary assistants.
Member Assistence Program (MAP)
Confidential support for dentists, dental office staff, dental students, and employees of the Canadian Dental Association and participating Provincial and Territorial Dental Associations and their families to deal with life’s challenges.
Dentist Wellness Program
Confidential support for dentists and their families delivered by experienced program staff and/or an extensive network of counsellors, therapists and coaches.
Health Care Worker Assist Program
A self-referral program for community and health workers that offers quick access to confidential mental health and wellbeing supports.

A professional leave of absence seen as a development experience meant to foster growth and revitalize careers.
Locum Protocols
Ensure that dentists who must withdraw from practice to undergo treatment for mental health or addiction reasons keep their practice viable in their absence (see p. 7).
